“Butter” is a top-quality Canadian-built Monaro 27’, designed for year-round cruising in West Coast waters. Built in Richmond, BC, it features an Alaskan bulkhead, hydronic heat, and a long list of recent upgrades that make it ideal for exploring the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and beyond. The Monaro 27’s reputation is rooted in its hand-laid fiberglass hull, deep-V design, and secure handling in rough conditions. It offers a dry, stable ride in seas that would challenge lesser boats, making it a favourite among experienced skippers looking for a trustworthy vessel.
In 2022 ‘Butter’ was re-powered with a Volvo D4 – 320 and DPI drive at a cost of 110,000 CAD. It cruises comfortably at 25-28kts and has a top speed of ~32kts. All work done for the re-power was completed at Monaro Marine in Richmond (Vancouver).
Used primarily in Ontario lakes by the original owner, the boat was stored indoors every off-season before being purchased in Vancouver in 2018. Since then, it has been stored on land each winter and maintained to high standards, with significant investment in both function and comfort. A full galley with both fridge and freezer allow for longer duration cruises. With both the aft cabin and the v-berth ‘Butter’ sleeps 4 comfortably. New cushions were installed for the VBerth in 2022 and the aft berth has brand new cushions bought in Sept 2025.
A new (2024) triple axle trailer is also available.
